Rap-Up recently shared that Michael Phelps performed the hit song of Eminem titled Lose Yourself from his 2002 music album. Phelps wore a full B. Rabbit outfit with hoodie and a very focused glare. The 8 Mile star tweeted about the swimmer’s performance joking, “But wait until you see me swim,” in which many Twitter users commented, asking the rapper about a new album.
In the meantime, a report from International Business Times AU suggested that the Detroit rapper still made it through the list of Forbes magazine’s 2016 Hip-Hop Cash Kings list of the music genre’s top earners. This is in spite of the fact that he has not released a new album for almost three years.
According to the site, the Love The Way You Lie rapper managed to make US$11 million or AU$14.6 million in the past 12 months and ranked number 18 on the site’s list of hip-hop earners.
“It has been a comparatively quiet year for Marshall Mathers, who continues to cash in on his extensive catalogue of hits,” Forbes wrote in a statement.
The Rap God rapper seemed to prove that a person can still earn a nine-figure amount from making and performing music after he performed his hits in concerts.
“He only played three shows during our scoring period,” the report continued. “But made them count: they were all at South American iterations of the Lollapalooza music festival in front of tens of thousands of fans.”
The report indicated that the Stan rapper made a total worth of US$151 million or AU$200 million in the past 10 years.
The number one highest paid hip-hop act today is P. Diddy who made US$62 million or AU$82 million during the past year. He made $435 million in the past decade.
Meanwhile, fans of the Real Slim Shady rapper have been wondering if he will be releasing a new album this year. The rapper last released an album back in 2013 entitled The Marshall Mathers LP 2. He has remained mum about the possibilities of releasing new tracks before 2016 ends.
Eminem is yet to comment on the fans’ questions and requests for a new album.
